Dr. Melissa Walker Glenn is an associate professor of voice at Brigham Young University–Hawaii, mezzo-soprano, composer, and lyricist.


Dr. Melissa Walker Glenn holds a doctoral degree in voice performance from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in voice performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music, and a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Brigham Young University–Hawaii. She runs an innovative and successful studio of classical, musical theatre, and CCM voice majors. Dr. Glenn has a strong commitment to excellence and a record of effective voice teaching. Former students have been accepted to masters and doctoral degrees at Indiana University, Eastman School of Music, the Royal Conservatory of Music, Berklee College, and more. All of these students were accepted with scholarship offers.

Dr. Glenn is an active performer in multiple genres. She performs with Early Music Hawaii, Cantus Spiritus (a professional chamber choir), the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, Honolulu Vocal Jazz, and Honolulu Bach Chamber Orchestra. She has soloed with the Phoenix Symphony, been an AGMA chorister with Arizona Opera, sung with Brevitas Chamber Choir, and performed multiple times with the GRAMMY-nominated ensemble True Concord Voices and Orchestra. In the realm of contemporary (CCM) singing, she has been employed as a singer at Disneyland with Goode Time Productions and as a recording artist for Priddis Music International.

Dr. Glenn is committed to utilizing the arts as a vehicle for humanitarian work. Several years ago, she created a song cycle based on survivors of trafficking from Calcutta and New Delhi, India, working in partnership with Arizona State University English professor and humanitarian Melissa Pritchard, Canadian composer Gerard Yun, and various non-profit organizations in India. She was rewarded $17,000 in grant funds.

In October 2019, the musical GINGERBREAD, which she co-wrote with playwright John Bell, was workshopped. In 2021, demos with orchestration by Steven Bishop and performances by Broadway actors were recorded.

Melissa Glenn resides in Hawaii with her husband David and three children.
